Amanda Award

   
The Amanda Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 20 August during a live TV transmission from the Haugesund Concert Hall. The Amanda Awards presentation concludes the film year of 2010/2011 and kicks off the Norwegian International Film Festival, whose official opening is on Sunday 21 August.

The Amanda Film Award was established to increase the quality of and further the interest for Norwegian films made for theatrical release as well as short films meant for public exhibition. The award consists of a bronze figurine, designed by the sculptor Kristian Kvakland, and a diploma. Amanda is organised by The Norwegian International Film Festival Ltd. in co-operation with the Norwegian Film Institute.

The Amanda Award Ceremony will be produced by Dinamo Story, and transmitted on TV2 Television.

The Amanda Committee
The task is led by a special Amanda Committee, appointed by the board of the Norwegian International Film Festival. The members of this year's Amanda Commitee are: Gunnar Johan Løvvik (The Norwegian International Film Festival), Nina Refseth (The Norwegian Film Institute), Håkon Skogrand (The Norwegian International Film Festival), Guttorm Petterson (The Norwegian Film Distributors' Association), Sveinung Golimo (The Norwegian Film and TV Producers’ Association), Lars Berg (The Norwegian Directors Guild), Sverre Pedersen (The Norwegian Film Workers' Association), Geir Martin Jensen (The Norwegian Cinema Directors' Association), Gunnar Germundson (Norwegian Playwrighter' Association), Agnete Haaland (The Norwegian Actors' Equity Association), Tom Erik Anfinsen (The Norwegian International Film Festival), Kari Hansmark (TV2), Geir Bie (Dinamo Story), Nina Bræin (The Norwegian International Film Festival), Astri Dehli Blindheim (Amanda Coordinator, The Norwegian Film Institute).

The Amanda Award is presented in the following categories:
  1. Best Norwegian Film in Theatrical Release
  2. Best Director (for films in theatrical release)
  3. The People’s Amanda (audience vote in co-operation with VG and TV2)
  4. Best Actor
  5. Best Actress
  6. Best Actor in a Supporting Role
  7. Best Actress in a Supporting Role
  8. Best Children’s and Youth Film
  9. Best Screenplay
  10. Best Cinematography
  11. Best Sound Design
  12. Best Music
  13. Best Editing
  14. Best Production Design / Scenography
  15. Best Visual Effects
  16. Best Short Film
  17. Best Documentary
  18. The foreign film of the year in Theatrical Release
  19. The Amanda Committee Golden Clapper Award
  20. The Amanda Committee Honorary Award
The Amanda figurine is made by the Norwegian sculptor Kristian Kvakland, while the Golden Clapper is made by sculptor Nils Aas.
