In connection with the Amanda Awards Ceremony on 20 August in Haugesund, the Amanda Committee today organised a press conference in Oslo, where the 2011 nominations for Amanda, the Norwegian Film Award, were announced.
Five juries consisting of a total of 21 members appointed by the film industry organisations have evaluated this year's films for the Amanda Award, which in 2011 will be presented for the 27th time. The juries that have evaluated the Norwegian films in theatrical release have been led by Bjørn Simensen.
- With a record number of 34 Norwegian films, this year's nomination process has been very comprehensive, Festival Director and Chairman of the Amanda committee Gunnar Johan Løvvik says. - We would like to extend a warm thank you to Jury President Bjørn Simensen and the Amanda juries for the extensive work they have put in, Løvvik says.
The Jury President emphasises the quantity as a positive aspect of this year's Norwegian film production.
- Without a large and broad production we will be unable to make the very best films, and we have seen a large number of films of high quality during our jury work, Bjørn Simensen says, who thinks that the nomination process has went very well.
Simensen would like to emphasise the powerful performances from young actors. - We have seen many strong children parts, but the juries have decided to focus on the adult actors when judging performances for the Amanda awards, the Jury President says.
The Norwegian International Film Festival and the Amanda Committee are proud to present this year's nominations:
