IT-regissøren: - Jeg likte ikke originalen eller klovnen i den
Derfor forandret Andrés Muschietti klovnens utseende i nye "IT".
8. september er det duket for et gjensyn med "IT" og the loosers club, dvs. syv barn som terroriseres av en klovnelignende demon ved navn Pennywise. Filmen er en filmatisering av Stephen Kings roman med samme navn. Det er andre gang boka får en filmversjon. På 90-tallet bar Tim Curry klovnemaska da "IT" så dagens lys som en toepisoders TV-miniserie. Det er først og fremst sistnevnte som har gjort Pennywise ikonisk.

Likte ikke miniserien
Men mannen som lager 2017-versjonen av "IT", Andrés Muschiett - han var aldri spesielt imponert over miniserien. Ifølge Screenrant sier han følgende:
To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of the miniseries. I was not a child anymore when it came out in 1990. So my attachment was very much to the book and to the world of Stephen King more than the miniseries. I totally acknowledge how iconic that miniseries was for a generation. But also you have to say that it impacted that generation because they saw it with very young eyes as a TV movie or on VHS. A lot of people don’t remember the whole thing, but they are terrified of the iconic scenes of the clown behind the sheets in the beginning and the storm drain.
- Klovnen så billig ut
Heller ikke klovnens utseende i 90-talls-versjonen falt i smak hos Muschiett:
I never— aesthetically, I don’t dig the 20th century clown. I think it looks cheap, and it’s too related to social events and stuff and circus and stuff, which circus is fine, but I’m more aesthetically attracted to the old time, like the 19th century clown. And given that this guy has been around for centuries, I wondered myself why, why not, having an upgrade that was 1800s.
Hva enn du foretrekker, 8. september er Bill Skarsgård klar til å ta over stafettpinnen fra Tim Curry. Og fra det vi har sett av trailere virker det meget lovende.
